Great question, one I often think of when I consider how we can infuse global competency in our future programs... I think it is important to remember that global change starts at the community level, so we should constantly be focusing on our community needs, but with larger scale applications (state jobs, international needs, etc.). I think it is cool to reflect on the local needs of a community in comparison to other communities with similar needs across the state or even across the world. For example, when we talk about the community/state need for next generation dairy farmers, the same issue arises in the central valley of Costa Rica, due to their dependence on dairy farming but student lack of interest in agricultural education/occupations. Let's think globally but start locally! We are all connected!!
